Laser Reproduction and its subsidiary Welter Studio, the only full-size and full-service printing company based in downtown Toronto, Ontario, just installed a NEW RMGT 9 Series sheetfed offset press. This new system will not only complement their existing 6 color 40 press but replaces their 12 year old RMGT7 series press. Manufactured by RYOBI MHI Graphic Technology and purchased through Canadian distributor KBR Graphics, the new press is equipped with automatic plate changing, smart make-ready technology and LED-UV instant curing.

Warneke Paper Box installs with Heidelberg Primefire the first B1 format digital printing system in the US

Warneke Paper Box of Denver, Colorado recently began installation of a new Primefire 106 of H e i d e l b e r g e r Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The 7-color industrial inkjet 40” B1 size digital press will allow the packaging printer to expand their business by collaborating with their customers on targeted short run packaging campaigns and provide added security to cartons through variable content. According to Steve Huppert, Vice President and COO of Warneke Paper Box, “We first saw the Primefire at drupa 2016 and were amazed by the results. We’re excited for the new opportunities that it will create for both us and our customers.”

BOBST K5000 with AluBond Installed at PT Panverta

PT Panverta based in Indonesia had their new BOBST K5000 2450 installed in their factory earlier this year. Panverta was established in 1989 and is well known for being a trusted manufacturer of packaging film in Indonesia, producing CPP and LDPE films; the company is also experienced in vacuum metallizing to provide extra value to their film.

Mark Andy adds three new models to Performance Series line

Mark Andy has introduced three new press models, P9E, P7E and P5E, to its Performance Series product line, as it seeks to meet and support ever-evolving converter needs. The P9E press is specifically designed for high-quality flexible packaging production. Available in web widths up to 26in (660mm), the flexo press is engineered as a production tool to print film, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging and foil lidding.

All4Labels München invests in second Gallus ECS 340

All4Labels München, based in Mitterscheyern, Germany, has installed a second Gallus ECS 340 press to further expand its capacity. Thanks to the merger of Baumgarten, Rako and XLabel in 2016, All4Labels – Global Packaging Group has become the third largest label converter in the world. All4Labels München placed an order for a remarketed Gallus ECS 340 equipped with 10 flexo printing units and a cold foil unit to add to its line-up of existing machines. The new installation will be used to add to its production in the food and beverage market.

Fujian Furong Technology Group adds seventh Atlas slitter

Atlas Converting Equipment has agreed to supply a 10.4m Atlas CW1040 primary slitter rewinder to Fujian Furong Technology Group, one of China’s three largest producers of BOPP film. Currently Fujian Furong Technology Group runs six Atlas CW1040 primary slitter rewinders, two at 8.3 meters and four at 8.7 meters. These machines are installed at three production sites in China: in Fuqing, Fujian Province; Guangzhou, Guangdong province; and Nantong, Jiangsu Province.

Heidelberg customers successful in the growth market of labels

L a b e l s g i v e p r o d u c t s their unique identity and boost the impulse to buy at the point of s a l e . Al t h o u g h the label market accounts for just five percent of the worldwide print volume of around EUR 400 billion, it has the biggest growth potential in the industry. This is because of the high demand for labels with unusual embellishments and just-in-time delivery. The annual growth in self-adhesive labels is over four percent, increasing to double digits for digital inkjet printing.

Xaar’s Eps Business Expands To Deliver Enhanced Service

Xaar company Engineered Printing Solutions (EPS) will open a new office in California, USA in S e p t e m b e r , enhancing its ability to meet the needs of its many existing and potential customers on the West Coast. The new office will deliver quicker response times and lower costs for support calls for customers. It will include a demo suite for a number of the company’s products, including pad printers, inkjet flatbed and rotary bottle printer, and also stock consumables such as inks, pads and printing plates.

Etimark installs new Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+LM

Etimark, a label and packaging printer located in Grabs, Switzerland, has installed a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+LM press with Equios Universal Workflow. The investment was made to serve an increasing demand for digital print from its customers. ‘Since installing the press we can concentrate more intensively on the ever-increasing number of customers requiring short runs,’ said Marco Schulz, CFO, CIO of Etimark. ‘We’re seeing more and more variety in print jobs whilst customers also want shorter delivery times. The Truepress Jet L350UV+LM press helps us to exceed those client expectations.’

Heidelberg presents latest digital solutions and “Smart Print Shop” at customer events in Japan

Over 450 v i s i t o r s expe r i enc ed h o w productivity can be significantly increased with digitized and a u t o m a t e d processes at the open house at Heidelberg Japan in Tokyo at the end of July. Under the motto “Smart Print Shop” with “Push to Stop”, the guests from Japan and Asia saw how an integrated workflow incorporates all processes and optimizes the overall equipment efficiency (OEE). Push to Stop is setting new rules for the game: whereas in the past the operator had to manually initiate a large number of steps in the production process, now he only needs to intervene in the automated process chain as necessary.

Flint Group’s Flexographic division launches two new products

The flexographic business of Flint Group will showcase at Labelexpo Americas 2018 the nyloflex XVH digital plate, a new, versatile, hard durometer plate with an inherently flat top surface. The nyloflex XVH can be used as-is or further tailored with the use of surface screening. This thermally-processed printing plate provides extraordinary detail that rivals the quality of solvent-processed plates. To expand Flint Group’s offering for the label market, the nyloprint WF Sharp will be launched at the show. The water washable, film-based plate for the high-end label market improves quality with the highest line count for reproduction of the finest details.

Uflex invests in Edale narrow web flexo press for production of security labels

Uflex, India’s largest flexible packaging converter, has purchased a 10-color Edale FL3 flexo press to produce security labels. Uflex’s new FL3 is has a 350mm web width, 10 flexo color stations, IST UV drying system including three hot air dryers, motorized print impression, anilox pressure and cross register control system, a rail mounted peel and reveal module, and a vacuum delivery table. Uflex has purchased the FL3 to produce security labels, making it important to invest in an option that would deliver sustained quality and ensure high reliability. Edale’s experience in vacuum collating conveyors was a huge benefit when making the selection.

Komori sets out Impremia NS40 roadmap

Komori Corporation plans to initiate field testing of the new 40in Impremia NS40 sheet-fed press, featuring Landa’s Nanographic Printing technology, in the spring of next year.. The Impremia NS40 is designed to combine the versatility of digital with the quality and speed of offset printing at a low cost per page. It has the capability to print on any off-the-shelf substrate, from coated and uncoated paper stocks to synthetic substrates and paperboard – up to 32 point – without the need for pre- or post-treatment of any type. Operating at an initial throughput rate of 6,500 straight sheets or 3,250 perfected sheets per hour, the NS40 will be available in multiple configurations, from a 4-7 color straight press to an 8-color perfector with in-line coating.

MPS expands international sales team with new EMEA sales director

MPS Systems has appointed Otto Muskee as its new sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Latin America, in a move to further support the press manufacturer’s distribution partners and area sales managers. With an educational background in export, marketing management and graphic technologies, coupled with years of industry experience in distribution management and sales channel development, MPS identified Muskee as, ‘an asset in managing distribution sales activities and guiding the EMEA international sales team.

Avery Dennison launches recycled PET liners in Europe

Avery Dennison has claimed itself as the first pressuresensitive labeling material supplier to introduce liner made from recycled PET (rPET) commercially in Europe. This move reflects the firm’s commitment to finding more sustainable options for the labeling industry, as Jasper Zonnenberg, the supplier’s global director for films, explained.

Pretium launches PET sauce bottle that mimics glass

Pretium Packaging, a North American manufacturer of plastic containers and closures, is launching a new 12oz polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sauce bottle that has been designed to mimic the look and feel of glass. Suited for cold or ambient fills up to 130 degrees F, the new sauce bottle is said to provide a viable alternative for brands and their products, such as sauces, marinades, dressings and condiments, which had previously been unwilling to convert to PET. Additionally, for brand owners seeking to minimize use of virgin materials, the bottle can be made with up to 50 percent recycled PET.

Konica Minolta India makes first roll-to-roll installation

Indian converter Hora Art has installed an AccurioLabel 190, Konica Minolta’s first roll-to-roll digital label press installation in the country. Pradeep Hora, managing director and Sanjay Hora, director, Hora Arts, said: ‘We wanted a digital label printing solution which could seamlessly cater to our various smalllot printing requirements. The AccurioLabel from Konica Minolta is perfectly suited to our business needs and allows us to deliver superior quality prints at fast speed, with better overall productivity and profitability.’

Piedmont Graphics Invests in a Xerox iGen 5 Digital Press with 5th Station

Piedmont Graphics, a commercial printing service in the Greater Atlanta area, announces its roll out of the iGen 5 printer in partnership with Xerox. Piedmont Graphics is reportedly the only commercial print service in Georgia to offer printing with White and Clear Dry Inks.

Chinese newspaper printed on Commander satellite press in Germany

ColdsetInnovation Fulda has been printing two newspaper titles for a customer in China since the beginning of the year. The newspapers are produced for the Scandinavian region, the Benelux countries and Germany. “Our Chinese partners are very demanding when it comes to newspaper quality. Our Commander satellite press’ register accuracy, extremely low fan-out and minimal makeready times tipped the scales in our favour,” says Siegfried Wahl, assistant vicepresident and technical director at ColdsetInnovation Fulda.
